This is a 12 month fixed term, part-time (0.7 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension.

The Role As an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO), you will play a key role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, teachers, the school, and the wider community. You will ideally help share knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language, and culture, fostering a deeper connection and respect within the school environment.
AIEOs act as a vital liaison between the community and the school, working to create an education program that addresses both the educational and cultural needs of students. You will provide essential mentoring and pastoral care, particularly for students at risk, ensuring their engagement and success within the school community.
AIEOs also support teachers in implementing the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework. Ideal candidates will ideally have a strong connection to Aboriginal culture and the ability to build positive relationships with families and the local community. The ability to work collaboratively in teams, as well as independently, to achieve the best outcomes for students and their families will be highly valued.

be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
