EL 1 - Deputy Director General Asset Assurance $115,899 - $130,733 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Campbell Park - ACT The Role
The Directorate of Defence Stocktaking is seeking a dynamic leader to perform the role of the Deputy Director overseeing the General Assets Assurance function. You will provide managerial leadership, stakeholder engagement, resource management, and staff support to seven regionally based teams across Australia.
The position requires experienced leadership, advanced communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility, and an ability to drive and enhance performance through cooperative relationships and strategic planning. You will have excellent judgement with a high level of strategic thinking, leadership, and support skills in managing a geographically diverse team responsible for the delivery of Defence General Asset Assurance activities.
The position reports against the performance and progress of the Defence General Asset three-year stocktake program, reviews and updates procedural documentation, and works toward the delivery of effective outcomes while ensuring the accuracy of the Defence financial statements.
About our Team
The Directorate of Defence Stocktaking works closely with Defence Group and Service Tier 3 Logistics Compliance and Assurance representatives, Defence Finance Group (DFG), and external stakeholders to deliver efficient and effective asset assurance services, support, and reporting both within Defence and as part of whole of Government requirements.
Our work includes coordination and execution of General Asset assurance activities for all Groups and Services within Defence, working with DFG to clarify asset assurance requirements, updating Defence's Fixed Asset Register, and reporting outcomes to internal and external stakeholders over the three-year reporting cycle.
Our asset assurance team members deliver nationwide services from offices in ACT, NSW, QLD, NT, WA, SA, and VIC.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in complex writing, the ability to analyse statistical data, and a proven ability to quickly assimilate organisational context and objectives to contribute to the strategic outcomes of the Joint Capabilities Group. The position works within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices, and procedures in accordance with Defence's business objectives.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and/or experience within the logistics asset assurance fields, or have the ability to quickly gain this knowledge, and will be responsible for the development, implementation, compliance, and review of policies and procedures relevant within that function.
Strong supervisory skills are essential, and an understanding of the APS reporting framework is necessary to fulfil the duties. The successful applicant will be required to undertake occasional interstate travel to engage with the teams, conduct stakeholder engagement, and provide high-level stocktaking and assurance activity guidance at working groups and forums.
