ASD EL1 Senior Operations Officer (Shift Role) Total Salary Package: $122,686 - $138,389 (plus 15.4% super) Brisbane CBD - QLD, Canberra - ACT ASD EL1 Senior Operations Officer (Shift Work) The ASD SOO role will put you at the forefront of operational support and coordination to ASD and its customers, as part of ASD's shift workforce. As the ASD SOO, you will ensure that Director General ASD maintains 24/7 situational awareness with respect to developing corporate, cyber-security and signals intelligence incidents outside of normal working hours.
The ASD EL1 Senior Operations Officer role is a shift position in Canberra and Brisbane which provides oversight and advice across all of ASD 24-hour functions. There are four ASD SOO shifts which are scheduled between 0530-1745 or 1730-0545 to ensure 24/7 coverage.
As part of a shift role, you will: Engage with ASD, Defence and Government decision makers to escalate items of interest or significant impact. Lead ASD's initial response to crises, working closely with other event management leads. Maintain awareness of all critical reporting and significant ASD cyber, signals intelligence, and offensive cyber operations. Coordinate with other Australian Government agencies and international equivalents on impacts and reactions to global events or significant operations. Lead and present regular operations briefings for ASD leadership. Brief VIP visitors to ASD's 24-hour operations centre. Mentor ASD staff and other intelligence professionals in ASD's 24-hour operations centre. Shift work will attract additional remuneration in accordance with the ASD Terms and Conditions of Employment (non-SES) Determination. About our Team The SOO function supports ASD's REDSPICE initiative, which seeks to anticipate and prevent crises, and ensure Australia's cyber and intelligence capabilities remain resilient. ASD EL1 Operations Management roles support ASD's purpose to defend Australia from global threats and advance the national interest through the provision of foreign signals, intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations, as directed by the Government.
Our Ideal Candidate ASD EL1 Senior Operations Officers will respond to challenging tasks under pressure. You will:

Operate as an effective member of the team; working collaboratively, cooperatively but mostly autonomously within the Senior Operations team. Identify problems and assess their significance; take appropriate action to resolve or escalate them. Adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct and consistently behave in an honest, ethical and professional way. Have an understanding of geopolitical affairs. Be experienced with shift work. Shift work will attract additional remuneration in accordance with the ASD Terms and Conditions of Employment (non-SES) Determination, at approximately 30% on top of baseline salary.
