The Oral Health Service in Central Australia (OHSCA) provides a range of oral health services, community education programs, and targeted services to clients with chronic diseases and special needs.
OHSCA is accredited with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and collaborates with the Menzies School of Health Research and the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health in multi-centre research programs.
Dental Officers at OHSCA provide quality oral health clinical services in accordance with agreed policies, protocols, and procedures.
They will deliver high-quality comprehensive clinical services to eligible client groups, both adults and children, in urban, rural, and remote areas, while maintaining accurate and complete electronic client records.
OHSCA utilises a primary health care approach to oral health care, including client engagement in treatment planning and promoting effective self-care.
Senior dentists actively contribute as members of the oral health team, supervising students, providing advice to staff, and participating in service planning, development, and evaluation.
Clinicians are required to continuously develop and maintain a high level of clinical knowledge, skills, and competence in acute and primary oral health care, as well as actively participate in professional development activities and Continuous Quality Improvements (CQI) programs.
They foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour, following defined service quality standards and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures to ensure high-quality, safe services and workplaces.
