The Digital Services Branch provides technology and expertise for Clean Energy Regulator to delivery its strategic outcomes and regulatory obligations.
The branch manages agency technology infrastructure as well as business and corporate applications.
Digital Services Branch leads new development of business-lead value and capability through a user-centred design approach.
About the Section
The Agile Delivery Section is responsible for the design, development and delivery of digital solutions for the Clean Energy Regulator.
The section facilitates the operation of an Agile Release Train (ART) using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Aligned with international best practice standards, the ART works to delivery high quality, timely solutions to meet user needs.
The Agile Delivery Section:
Manages scrum teams who produce digital solutions.
Sets the agile framework and ways of working for scrum teams.
Defines the set of processes and practices to help ensure software meets appropriate quality standards.
Ensures alignment against digital standards and processes.
Communicates with the agency on successes, learnings and potential for innovation in digital delivery.
Role Responsibilities and Duties
As the Delivery Lead for the Agile Delivery section, you will have broad responsibilities to ensure both the strategic and tactical success of the section.
Our ideal candidate is a high-performing, self-motivated individual who can prioritise effectively to support a complex digital transformation program of work.
Working closely with the Manager – Agile Delivery and Release Train Engineer, and as part of a small leadership team, you will implement a range of initiatives aimed at improving ways of working and the smooth operation of the Agile Release Train.
Your responsibilities include:
Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders for Program Increment planning, requirements gathering and prioritisation of work
Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies that could impact delivery success and utilise the escalation process to unblock teams, fostering an environment of continuous flow
Work closely with the Release Train Engineer to manage reporting across the Agile Release Train and provide regular updates on progress, risks and opportunities
Prepare and review written material, including reports, briefs and presentations
Provide expertise across workforce planning, staff management and recruitment to ensure teams are appropriately resourced
Cultivate empathy across teams and build trusted and strong relationships within the section and with business stakeholders
Lead and develop people capability in a team environment through coaching, providing performance feedback and encouraging career development.
Qualifications/Experience
The ideal candidate will either:
Hold tertiary qualifications or experience in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
Have 7+ years of experience in software development (leading, managing or working within teams), with at least 5 years of experience in Agile development methodologies.
It is anticipated that the Delivery Lead will have demonstrated proficiency in the following areas:
Experience working with digital transformation initiatives in the public or private sectors, including having hands-on experience working with digital teams
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, concepts and values (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, Built-In Quality)
Strong written and verbal communication skills to produce briefs and executive presentations
Experience in reporting progress and metrics for Agile Product Delivery
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Experience working as a Delivery Manager, Scrum Master or Release Train Engineer
Experience with Miro and Azure DevOps
The following experience and qualities are highly desirable, but not essential:
Experience with release management, including managing risks and interdependencies associated with releases and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies
Certified qualifications (e.g.
Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe certifications)
