Defence Fea Mechanical Engineer

For a large national industrial engineering design firm based in Newcastle, we are hiring a Mechanical Engineer to provide design solutions for Defence projects.
The role requires Australian Citizenship and experience with CAD 3D Solid Modelling, CAE FEA, and conducting design reviews.
The salary guide is $115,000 to $130,000 in the Newcastle region.
A normal day includes: Providing innovative & cost-effective engineering solutions, new approaches & techniques to the design and development of new products and problem-solving. Providing concept design, preliminary and detailed design analysis of structural and mechanical products utilizing CAD 3D Solid Modelling and CAE FEA software applications. Providing professional technical report writing and assistance with the preparation of tender responses. Providing manufacturing support including design for manufacture reviews and the development of manufacturing work instructions. Conducting formal design review meetings, including preparation of presentation material and provision of meeting agendas and minutes. You'll be working with a multidisciplinary design team and suppliers to deliver practical, innovative, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Other duties could also include:
Developing and maintaining project schedules based on project scope of work and key milestones. Reviewing project costs and schedule against contracted deliverables and budgets and providing status reports and forecasting. Developing technical specifications/statement of work for outsourcing of specialized engineering and manufacturing services. Conducting site inspections and measurements including provision of condition reports and as-built manufacturing drawings and associated records. Liaising with internal/external customers, service providers, and networks on a regular basis to maintain healthy relationships, understand their business operations and objectives.
