There are many parent working groups helping in areas such as classroom assistance, gardening, yard duty, administrative support, catering, canteens and the annual fair. There are also regular working bees at each campus. The parental involvement is a key to the success of a student's experience in the College. The roleis responsible for managing the collection ofoutstanding school fees and overduepayments in an efficient manner, with dueconsideration for the reputation and valuesof the College. The role includes thedevelopment and maintenance ofcontemporary record-keeping and metricsreports to against key goals.Managing stakeholder relationships,particularly with debtor families, will bePosition Relationships• Director of Finance & Business• College Credit Controller• Finance team membersDebt Collections Officer| OVERNEWTON ANGLICAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE6Key ResponsibilitiesThe Debt Collections Officer is responsible for the collection of overdue school fees;Administration and record-keeping• Work with the Credit Controller to develop and maintain a database of outstanding debtors, includingreal-time account activities, and agreed terms of payment.• Maintain a record of correspondence with each debtor, including outcomes and follow-up dates.• Liaise with Edstart on debtors, including maintaining a record of payments for College records, accountsin arrears/defaults and payment requirements.Reporting• Work with the Credit Controller and Director of Finance & Business to quantify collections for each monthin working towards key targets.• Compile a regular update report, including developing key metrics, for the Director of Finance & Businessand the Principal.• Prepare a monthly report for the College Board's Finance Committee on debtors.• Monitor the effectiveness of the role in line with key targets set by the Finance Committee.Debt collection• Coordinate and communicate with debtors on any account or payment queries.• Support families to implement fee payment schedules, by negotiating payment deadlines and plans.• Recommend suitable families sign up with Edstart and provide contact details and support for thatprocess.• By working with the Credit Controller, oversee all payments, and follow up missed payments.• Work with the Director of Finance and Business to institute timely legal action, if needed.• Perform all administrative duties related to ensuring office efficiency.Stakeholder Relations• Develop productive relationships with debtor families, in consideration of the nature of the role and the• Engage with similar roles in other schools, to exchange professional strategies and resources.• Represent the College at relevant events, conferences of professional learning opportunities for debt officers.Relevant Skills, Knowledge andExperience• Experience in debt collections, or similar role.• Expert skills using MS Office, especially data manipulation and reporting using Microsoft Excel.• Skills in working with databases to store, extract and update information.• Demonstrated skills in professional communication, negotiation and resolving conflicts.• Ability to speak persuasively and listen critically.• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.Debt Collections Officer| OVERNEWTON ANGLICAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE7Conditions of Employment• All teachers will hold current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).• All education support staff will have a current Working with Children's Card (Employee).• It is expected that all staff will support the Christian ethos of the College.• Overnewton is an equal opportunity employer and enforces nondiscrimination and safe working policies.All staff must be aware of and able to work within Occupational Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity Legislation.
