Dean of Students - Preparatory School - 2 roles Commencing January 2025 The Southport School (TSS) is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for over 120 years and is committed to providing a holistic education for boys focused on excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced Christian environment.
From January 2025, TSS is seeking two Dean of Students (Preparatory School campus) who will be responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects associated with student pastoral care (either Years preschool - Year 2 or Years 3-6), forging strategies that nurture the wellbeing, integrated development and restorative interventions for boys.
It is envisaged that successful candidates for this role will:
Actively support and model our Anglican Christian Ethos and enthusiastically participate as a member of a school community in the GPS tradition. Possess a vision for the pastoral care and wellbeing health of boys in a high performing school environment. Proven ability and experience in providing timely and effective responses to complex students' pastoral care and behavioural needs. Demonstrate the ability and experience in building and nurturing student/parent/school partnerships for the benefit of the student. Proven ability to lead and support a team and to enable others in the effective development of and responses to individual and group needs. Extensive knowledge and application in boys' education and development. Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and covering a diversity of educational needs, both academic and cultural. Knowledge of the principles of positive psychology and experience in the integration and application of leadership principles, emotional intelligence, thinking skills and responsible thinking approaches. Have a comprehensive knowledge of student protection policy and reporting procedures. Successful candidates will be willing to support the Code of Conduct and the stated values and Christian Ethos of the School. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate professional boundaries and standards when working with children and young people. Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a working with children BlueCard and may be asked to provide a recent Police check certificate.
