Ikon Institute of Australia (Ikon) - HE provider for domestic and international students.
About the role
The Dean/Academic Director (HE) will lead and manage academic operations of our Higher Education entity (Ikon).
Reporting to the General Manager, Academic and Governance, this role is pivotal in developing and implementing the Teaching and Learning Plan, ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational experiences that align with Ikon's Strategic Plan and regulatory requirements.
The role also involves overseeing development and implementation of the Product Development Plan to introduce new courses in line with Ikon's Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities include
Teaching and Learning
Develop and implement Teaching and Learning Plan.
Chair the Teaching and Learning Committee and report to the Academic Board.
Implement scholarly activities framework and promote innovation in teaching.
Fostering a culture of scholarship, supporting student success, and maintaining the quality of teaching and learning outcomes.
Workforce Planning and Management
Develop workforce plans and oversee recruitment of academic staff.
Support professional development and performance management.
Product Development and Review
Oversee development of a Product Development Plan consistent with Ikon's Strategic Plan for the development of new courses.
Review and contribute to accreditation applications.
Course and curriculum improvements and adherence to regulatory and professional accreditation standards.
External Relationships and Benchmarking
Develop and implement a cross-institutional benchmarking activity plan, to inform continuous improvement.
Maintain positive engagement with the higher education regulator.
Governance and Quality Assurance
Support academic governance and policy development.
Ensure compliance with academic standards and regulatory frameworks.
Manage academic operations budget and resources effectively.
Team Management
Demonstrate exemplary academic leadership and support the development of such leadership across senior academics.
Facilitate cross-school and cross-campus meetings as required to ensure communication and feedback, and development and maintenance of high-quality work processes within the academic function.
Embrace and model the fundamental values of the EDU Group and ensure these characteristics are consistently applied across all key initiatives and decision-making.
About you
PhD in any discipline (management or adult education-related field of study preferred), or a Master's with at least 5 years' experience in academic leadership and management.
Demonstrated established reputation at a national and/or international level as reflected by a substantial record of scholarship.
Extensive experience in academic management, and leading change and innovation within a higher education environment.
Experience in developing, leading, and managing high-performing academic teams, informed by an institution's vision, mission and goals.
Expert knowledge of contemporary pedagogical developments in face-to-face, blended and online delivery modes, informed by continuing scholarship and/or practice.
Proven record of high-quality outcomes associated with course development and accreditation, and the ongoing management of courses and curriculum.
Demonstrated understanding of requirements associated with regulatory frameworks, especially the current iteration of the Higher Education Standards Framework, the Education Services for Overseas Students Act and the National Code.
High attention to detail and results-focused.
Strong IT literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite.
