The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region. 



The Deadly Choices program, in collaboration with consortium members across Queensland, is one of the most celebrated initiatives, empowering individuals to make healthier choices through education, events, and advocacy. The Deadly Choices strategy, brand, and programs are widely recognized as cutting-edge health promotion and education initiatives which creates impactful experiences that foster pride, encourage positive lifestyle changes, and celebrate Indigenous culture.



About the Role?

To perform this role it is essential that the incumbent is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

As the Coordinator – Events and Ambassadors, you will play a key role in supporting the Deadly Choices team by providing both administrative and operational assistance in the delivery of Deadly choices programs and events. In addition, you will also provide leadership and practical support to the Deadly Choices Ambassadors, helping to build their knowledge, strength, and capacity. In this role, will ensure the meaningful engagement of the Ambassadors and, where suitable, deploy them as Deadly Choices Program Officers or Support Officers to aid in the delivery of various initiatives.



Within this role, you will be required to: 

Deadly Choices Event Coordinator Role and Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the Deadly Choices team and other business units to deliver quality events that align and adhere to the Deadly Choices Healthy Lifestyle guidelines. Engage with other Deadly Choices and IUIH business units to support the planning and delivery of localised events and activations. Work with engaged Health Services, external and internal Partners and Stakeholders to provide support around event management, manual handling and risk assessments. Support the connectivity between Deadly Choices, the IUIH network and Deadly Choices consortium partner services. Provide operational support to Deadly Choices Ambassadors, including – diary management, booking travel, meeting agenda and minutes, reporting and invoicing (if applicable). Liaise with partners and stakeholders to ensure clear briefs and appropriate information is received for events and Ambassador appearances.  About You?

Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) Current Criminal History Check - Willing to obtain upon commencement Current QLD Blue Card (Working with Children Check) Required prior to commencement Current QLD Yellow Card (Disability Worker Screening) Required prior to commencement Current First Aid and CPR Certificate - Willing to obtain upon commencement Desirable, but not mandatory:

Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
