This role will be an exciting changing of the guard, given the current Workplace Relations Manager (of 30+ years) will be handing over the role with care and knowledge, to ensure the most in-depth transition you could hope for.
NB - It is possible that this role can also be based from their Mackay site, with regular travel required to the Townsville head office.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of People and Culture Manager, you will play a lead role in negotiations with unions, all current Enterprise Agreements, and the resolution of Workplace Relation disputes. If required, you will also be representing the organisation in the Australian Fair Work Commission and other employment-related jurisdictions.
You will drive the development of workplace relations strategy, in addition to establishing foundations of policies and guidelines, while supporting the ongoing development of a positive environment and stakeholder engagement during a chapter of complex organisational change.
The support and expert advice you provide to the leaders on all industrial and employee relations matters will also be significant.
About You
It is essential you can demonstrate a wealth of experience as a seasoned workplace relations leader, as well as a thorough understanding of current employment law, industrial relations practices, and enterprise agreements in a complex and diverse work environment, ensuring an effective level of customer focus through strong relationship building and influencing skills, with a focus on pragmatic solutions in balancing policy and business issues.
Specifically we are seeking: Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management, HR, Employment Relations Law 6+ years' experience in a similar senior-level Industrial Relations role Solid working knowledge of employment law Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex data and investigate complex issues Ability, passion, and willingness to adapt, quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing structure, process, information, and technology Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a matrix organisation Prior experience working predominantly in a large, complex, multi-site blue-collar organisation The Benefits
