Manager, Commercial Sales Engineering (Customer Success) - APJ Datadog is seeking a Regional Manager, Sales Engineering (Customer Success) to join our high-growth organization and world-class pre-sales team, with an early focus on recruiting and building a team of top-tier Sales Engineers in our APJ Region. In this hands-on management role, you will lead talent acquisition efforts, identifying, hiring, and onboarding exceptional candidates to scale our team. Beyond recruiting, you will coach and mentor your team in qualifying and closing opportunities, delivering impactful sales presentations, product demos, and supporting technical evaluations (POCs). You'll also play an active technical role in customer-facing activities for key accounts within your region and foster strong cross-functional partnerships across Datadog to drive collaboration and success.
What You'll Do: Partner with the Customer Success Team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision and strategy to customers. Collaborate cross-functionally to drive positive customer outcomes and solve complex challenges. Lead recruiting efforts to attract and hire top talent within your region, ensuring a strong and diverse team. Mentor and coach new hires throughout their onboarding process to accelerate their skill development and ensure a smooth ramp-up to full productivity. Ensure that your team is enabled to support all required Datadog solutions along with key technical and soft skills. Manage a team of individual contributors, working to expand usage of Datadog in customer accounts. Oversee resource allocation within your team to optimize productivity, ensuring team members are fully engaged and performing at their highest potential. Focus on talent management to build, coach, and scale high-performing sales engineering teams. Leverage data to refine sales processes, identify growth opportunities, and enhance overall sales performance. Who You Are: Experienced with 3-5+ years in a Sales Engineering team lead or management role (with direct reports) and 5+ years in a Sales Engineering or other equivalent client-facing role. Coachable, with a strong desire to improve and grow as a professional and a demonstrated ability to navigate through change. Proven in your ability to grow and develop a team. Experienced in recruiting both individual contributors and front line leaders. Knowledgeable in cloud, infrastructure and monitoring solutions and technologies. Able to build and execute an evaluation plan and coach others on how to do so. Someone with strong written and oral communication skills. This role requires an ability to understand and articulate both the business benefits (value proposition) and technical advantages of our offering while also coaching others how to do so. Understanding of sales methodologies and deal processes. Able to think strategically and creatively about a wide variety of challenges. Able to travel up to 20% of the time.
