About the Team & the Position The Cloud, Platforms, Infrastructure and Networks (CPIN) team is accountable for the secure design, build, integration, and operation of AEMO's key enabling technology Infrastructure including data canters.
Working within the Database Services team, the Database Administrator will ensure all the database related issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner while providing a consistent and high level of customer service.
DBA should be able to work under broad direction and expected to self-initiate improvement processes and automation to reduce the manual intervention.
The incumbent will be responsible for database security and compliance, operational resiliency and secure the databases against sophisticated attacks and aggressive ransomware variants.
Position Responsibilities Provide on-call support for critical database issues outside of regular business hours to minimize downtime and ensure data availability.
Proactively monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal health and availability.
Own the incident management process for assigned database issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
Track database utilization metrics and report findings to support capacity planning activities.
Secure databases by implementing and maintaining security controls.
Implement and enforce granular user access controls and permission structures to safeguard sensitive data and optimize database resource utilization.
Maintain awareness of and comply with relevant data privacy regulations, such as the SOCI Act, to ensure the security and integrity of entrusted data.
Lead the implementation and ongoing optimization of a new database solution to meet performance and scalability requirements.
Manage database schema changes throughout the application release lifecycle to ensure successful deployments and minimal disruption and ensure all the database non-functional requirement are implemented as part of the release.
Develop and deliver training on assigned database administration topics for team members and provide guidance and assess the work of junior team members.
Automate routine database administration tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
Implement and manage data replication processes to ensure data synchronization and consistency across systems.
Position Requirements Skills & Experience: Strong experience as a 'SQL DBA'.
Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure or AWS is desirable.
Basic knowledge of PolyBase & Oracle database is required.
Oracle Exadata/ExaCC experience would be advantageous.
Intermediate knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
Basic knowledge of Power BI reports.
Experience with ServiceNow beneficial.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details Familiarity with Oracle Linux and Windows operating systems and environments Education/ professional Certifications: Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or similar experience will be highly regarded.
ITIL 4 Foundation certification is desirable.
Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server certified would be a bonus.
