Position: Database Administrator About the role: The Database Administrator is responsible for deploying, managing, and monitoring on-premises and cloud-based database systems and related applications. This role ensures database services operate efficiently and reliably, meeting agreed service levels and supporting the Wilson Group's business objectives.
Key Duties include: Manage and monitor database systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and security.Perform installations, configurations, migrations, and upgrades in line with best practices.Conduct routine backups, and recovery testing, and maintain security compliance.Support database-related needs for developers, including code reviews and schema design.Optimize performance through tuning and proactive issue resolution.Maintain documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing resources.Participate in incident, change, and problem management processes.Mentor team members, assist with projects, and identify improvement opportunities.Foster strong relationships with customers and escalate feedback as needed.Adhere to company policies, and safety standards, and participate in annual reviews.Information and Cyber Security: Support the Information Security Lead in protecting the organization against cyber risks by:
Conducting cyber reviews for new systems and solutions.Assisting in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.Ensuring the integrity and security of the IT environment.Qualifications and Experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Proven ability to work effectively in both team-oriented and autonomous environments.Strong expertise in ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Configuration Management.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, database backup/recovery methods, performance optimization, and tuning.Proficiency in T-SQL and a solid understanding of server operating systems.Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and third-party monitoring tools configuration and maintenance.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar solutions.Analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail and multitasking ability.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Experience with PowerShell and MySQL.Familiarity with High Availability technologies and Disaster Recovery planning/testing.Technical documentation writing skills.Qualifications: Required: Minimum 3+ years in Database Administration or a similar role.Desired: ITIL Foundation certification and a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT, or related fields.#J-18808-Ljbffr
