This position supports the database platforms that underpin NGM Groups core / critical systems and delivers high quality IT services to internal and external customers.
This role will manage a range of Database Platforms, Job Scheduling and Data Integration systems to the required business standards for system Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability and Compliance.
What will your key responsibilities include?
Stakeholder Support : Providing support and technical expertise to key stakeholders regarding problem-solving, inquiries, and design.
Database Architecture Design : Contributing to the design and management of database architecture to ensure secure access and availability in accordance with the needs of the business.
Providing Production Support : Ensuring the smooth operation of our database systems by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and providing timely resolutions.
Database Performance Tuning : Reviewing database queries and stored procedures, scripting, and maintaining optimal performance for our key banking applications.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting : Vigilantly overseeing our database environments to pre-empt and address any performance or stability issues.
ETL Development : Applying a hands-on approach with end-to-end ETL development in a production environment.
Database Structure Alterations : Undertaking alterations to database structures to meet the needs of developers, stakeholders, and changes in business volumes.
Maintenance and Upgrades : Ensuring ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and security of production databases, including SQL Server patching.
What are we looking for?
5 years as an Oracle DBA and experience with MS SQL Database.
Oracle (or SQL Server) database structures, interfaces and layered products knowledge required.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills will allow you to work closely with all areas of the business, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Cloud experience or genuine interest in this technology is highly regarded.
Degree, postgraduate, diploma or higher education qualifications in a relevant IT field desirable.
