Your role sits within Data Office and supports UniSuper doing this by: Providing expertise and guidance on all things data analysis - assisting our stakeholders to meet their objectives by enabling trustworthy, valuable, and easily consumable data and insights.
Supporting the business to make better decisions through reporting, self-service data access and analysis.
The role As a Data Scientist, you will be playing a crucial role in delivering insights & Analytics outcomes related to Financial Crime in a mature data environment alongside Business SMEs, Data Analysts, Modellers and Data Engineers to build analytics and reporting capabilities for UniSuper's Enterprise Release projects.

In addition to this you will: Support projects by identifying and mitigating financial crime risks, defining exceptions, and providing recommendations to safeguard the financial crime technical landscape.
Resolve business challenges by formulating hypotheses and leveraging large datasets, including transaction records, audit logs, and customer data, for financial crime analysis.
Identify and engineer critical features to enhance the performance of rule-based models in fraud detection.
Use advanced analytics to detect anomalies in transaction patterns and refine detection accuracy.
Create dashboards and reports to communicate findings, risk insights, and recommendations for remediating financial crime risks to key stakeholders.
Work with Data Modelling and Data Engineering team to build relationships between data sets and different data sources Design and build reports, visualisations and dashboards in PowerBI with the target audience in mind.
Work with Data Modelling and Data Engineering team to develop complex datasets and models on Databricks.
About you You will thrive in an outcome focused role and bring with you a number of years' experience across advanced analytics as a Senior Data Analyst or a similar role in a mature Data environment with exposure to: Python, R T-SQL Power BI A good understanding of control-M Databricks Machine Learning.
Proven Experience working with Python/R and a good understanding of Control-M Proven Experience working with cloud native platforms like Azure and Databricks Machine Learning and deployment pipelines.
Proven commercial experience with PowerBI development work and deployment pipelines.
Advanced level in Data Visualisation – Facilitating understanding of data by displaying concepts, ideas, and facts using graphical representations for technical and non-technical audiences.
Advanced level in Understanding Needs & Insights - Translating and communicating data outputs in an intuitive and insightful way to help business units make data-driven decisions.
Advanced level in Stakeholder Management - Achieving a proactive partnership relationship and influencing stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit.
Experience within Financial Services and particularly superannuation (Highly Desirable).
Certification in risk assessment is an advantage.
ACAMS certification is also an advantage.
Experience in Agile delivery models (Desirable).
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines for data analytics workloads.
