About the role The newly created position of Data Scientist reports to the Head of Analytics and will play a significant role in developing cutting-edge analytics solutions within this newly established business.
Our successful candidate will be responsible for utilising data science techniques to model and predict customer behaviour, as well as producing reports to visualize and interpret trends and patterns.
You will be more than comfortable with data analysis using SQL and building machine learning models in Python/R, and preferably will have some experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
You will be a self-starter who can pull, scrape and model data.
You will also be able to demonstrate a keen interest in data modelling, with a portfolio of projects.
The Data Scientist will join an experienced team of analysts who will be on hand to help develop your skills, expertise and career in the exciting sports wagering industry.
Based in Melbourne, this role will require someone who is a natural problem solver with high levels of attention to detail and the ability to liaise with a range of people across the business.
Experience in the sports wagering industry is not essential however a keen interest in sport would be advantageous.
Key Duties Build, deploy and monitor machine learning and AI models using transactional data to improve the customer product experience and drive personalisation Utilise data analysis techniques to draw insights and influence strategic business decisions and ensure information provided is adapted to suit a range of audiences Perform regular trend analysis on customer preferences and engagement and identify any areas of opportunity In collaboration with business stakeholders, develop and maintain insightful Tableau dashboards and reports for key operational functions including marketing and finance Source, transform and extract data from multiple sources, including the development of web scrapers Other ad hoc duties as required.
Key Selection Criteria Tertiary qualifications in Maths, IT, Science, Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Experience in building machine learning models in Python or R Demonstrated experience in, or ability to learn, Tableau or other visualisation tools Ability to write SQL queries to interrogate data Self-starter with an aptitude to learn and upskill Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both written and verbally with multiple stakeholders Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, contributing to their own personal goals as well as team objectives.
