About the Role: The Data Scientist, part of the Data Science Chapter within Product & Commercial, plays a crucial role in driving AGL's profitability.
They build and maintain advanced data models, analyse complex datasets, and develop predictive models to solve business problems and uncover growth opportunities.
Reporting functionally to the GM of Product & Commercial and the Data Science chapter lead, Data Scientists are embedded in cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
They maintain strong ties with the Data Science Chapter for capability development, knowledge sharing, and aligning on data practices, while being accountable for upholding data standards and achieving business goals.
What you'll be doing: Build and iterate machine learning models to tackle business challenges like customer segmentation and marketing optimization.
Enhance model performance through feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and ensemble methods.
Conduct experiments to test hypotheses and derive actionable insights from data.
Create compelling visualizations to effectively communicate complex insights to stakeholders.
Identify new applications for data science to generate refined insights.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation About you: Previous demonstrated experience in customer segmentation and predictive behaviour modelling.
Strong analytical skills, with experience in applying statistical techniques to solve business problems.
Proficient in developing and implementing predictive models, segmentation models, and other statistical models using tools such as R, Python, or SAS (Python preferred).
Basic SQL skills and understanding of version control systems (ie.
Git repository) Experience in using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to effectively communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Knowledge of the energy industry, including familiarity with energy consumption patterns, regulatory frameworks, and industry-specific challenges.
