About the company/role: We are currently recruiting for a Data Scientist (PO4/5) to join out QLD State Government client.
As a Data Scientist, you will be a part of emission modelling and analyses for Queensland Greenhouse gas emission targets.
Duties: Provide professional expertise in the design and delivery of greenhouse gas modelling Assist with scientific research projects, including both sector-based and facility-based emissions models and tools to evaluate GHG emissions estimation and mitigation in industry and resource sectors.
Offer specialist scientific expertise, technical advice and analytical support for the departments ongoing projects Provide internal consulting services, handle ad hoc, quick turnaround requests customised to policy needs, and deliver data-driven policy advice based on rigorous analysis of GHG emissions data, modelling results, and scenario assessments.
Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights and recommendations for policy formulation and decision-making.
Skills/experience: Bachelor's degree in data/computer science or closely related disciplines Extensive knowledge of National Greenhouse gas emissions inventory Demonstrated extensive knowledge in data science, with proficiency in R or Python, Github and Power BI Experience with Azure cloud desirable Experience within the resource industry and emissions is highly desirable Apply!
