What's so exciting about this role? We are transforming the data landscape with the implementation of a new modern data platform. The Data and Analytics functions is as one of our most critical in relation to the strategic side of the business, supporting business growth, great customer experiences, and outstanding operational results.
We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Lead/Tech Lead to spearhead the transformation of our legacy data infrastructure into a modern, scalable, and cloud-based data platform. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the Chief Data Officer (CDO) to develop and execute a data transformation strategy that will enable advanced analytics, data science, and business intelligence capabilities across the organization. You will lead the design and implementation of a modern data platform transformation, focusing on technologies like Snowflake, Databricks, and cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure)
What Does An Average Day Look Like? No day is average at humm but here's an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:
Define the architecture and roadmap for moving to a new data platform, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum value aligned with the company data strategy and business objectives Advocate for modern data practices, Data as a Product, and data governance principles, implement data management controls as standard Collaborate with the CDO to refine a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with business objectives and future growth plans Oversee the creation of data assets, pipelines, and processes to the new platform, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to streamline data operations and improve deployment speed and reliability Manage and optimize data storage solutions, including data lakes, warehouses, and real-time processing frameworks implementing FinOps processes integrated at outset Ensure the integration of the new platform with existing and new enterprise systems, enabling seamless data flow and accessibility Work closely with IT, analytics, and business intelligence across the Group to ensure the data platform meets the needs of all stakeholders, providing reliable and timely access to data. Stay informed on emerging data technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the platform and business Who will thrive in this role? An experienced Data Platform Lead/Tech Lead who is technically and strategically minded with a passion for leadership.
We're also looking for someone who brings:
8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a similar role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position Proven experience in designing and implementing modern data platforms, with expertise in technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, or similar Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and mentoring high-performing teams Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders Knowledge of data integration, ETL processes, and real-time data processing frameworks Excellent planning skills with experience managing large-scale data platform transformations in a scaled agile environment A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred Working at hummgroup
