Data Equity Epidemiologist, Supervisor - PROJECT (Epi 3 (Non-Medical)) This remote/home-based project position that is currently funded through 7/31/2025.

The Office of Health and Science guides our efforts in these areas, supporting a broad range of public health initiatives.

What you'll do: As the Epidemiologist 3 - Supervisory, you'll lead the Data Equity Unit within the Center for Epidemiology Practice Equity & Assessment (CEPEA).
Your role will be crucial in advancing our mission to reduce health disparities and promote equity through effective data management and analysis.
Reporting to the Equity & Health Assessment team manager, you'll oversee data equity and Tribal data sharing initiatives, ensuring impactful reporting efforts.

Key Responsibilities: Implement the CEPEA strategic vision to address health data disparities.Serve as a subject matter expert on surveillance data limitations and strengths.Enhance methods for data collection, analysis, and reporting.Propose and lead epidemiological investigations and community needs assessments.Hire, supervise, and develop staff, ensuring high performance and compliance with policies.Manage work allocation, address disciplinary issues, and promote process improvements.Provide expertise in data interpretation and policy application.Develop and implement communication strategies that center equity and address the needs of underserved groups.Respond to requests for technical assistance from various stakeholders.Collaborate with internal and external partners at various levels to support data equity work.Manage complex epidemiologic projects and represent CEPEA in meetings and workgroups. Attending events or working In-office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance.
This is a remote/home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border.

Education can substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile. Option 1: Eight (8) or more years of experience in epidemiology or disease surveillance within community organizations, public health agencies, or grassroots initiatives AND demonstrated experience designing, collecting, and analyzing health-related data to investigate factors that affect the health of a community.
This includes work on health disparities, conducting needs assessments, and implementing community health programs.Option 2: A Master's degree or higher in Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, or a related behavioral science AND five (5) or more years of experience in epidemiology or disease surveillance.And the following skills and experience: Five (5) or more years of experience using data to describe factors that affect the health of a community (e.g., income, education, laws, environment, climate change, resilience, homelessness, food security, access to healthcare, equity, distribution of resources and power, social and community engagement, changing demographics).Three (3) or more years of experience leading teams in improving data quality and reporting to identify health disparities and promote equity.Demonstrated experience in analyzing and addressing the impact of historical trauma, systemic racism, and social determinants of health outcomes.Practical experience managing or analyzing data from Tribal sources, including specific projects or responsibilities involving Tribal data.Proven knowledge of Tribal health systems, community-based research, and data collection methods, with examples of applied work in these areas.Experience in collaborating with Tribal nations, organizations, or community leaders to identify and address health disparities, including specific partnerships or initiatives.Track record of advocating for and implementing ethical, equitable, and inclusive practices in epidemiology, with examples of addressing health disparities and promoting DEIA.Experience leading and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, such as researchers, policymakers, and community partners, including specific roles or projects managed.Direct experience overseeing and managing epidemiological projects or activities, with details on project scope, outcomes, and responsibilities.Practical experience in developing and implementing change management strategies within epidemiological work, including examples of successful change initiatives.Preferred Qualifications: The qualifications below are what would make you a strong fit for this role.
