They also manage data pipelines, gather requirements from stakeholders, and provide technical guidance to drive more effective and efficient use of data platforms.
Additionally, they oversee operational performance, stakeholder management, consultation and coaching, and strategy implementation in alignment with WAPHA's mission and values.
The position requires strong technical expertise, stakeholder management skills, and adherence to relevant legislation and organisational policies.
As the Data Engineering Lead, you will work closely with the Data & Analytics team to onboard new projects, bridge technical knowledge gaps between teams, ensure data accuracy and quality, and drive vision for AI & data strategies across WAPHA and other PHNs.
This role will be offered as a Full time Maternity leave cover until 4th July 2025 and offers the flexibility to work from home and office.
Core responsibilities: Manage ongoing maintenance and technical support through the WAPHA ITIL based ticketing system.
Implement and manage ITIL Methodology for Data Engineering.
Oversee Agile Delivery Methodology for Data Engineering Projects.
Manage stakeholders, conduct impact analyses, and assess change readiness.
Lead the design, development, and delivery of Data Models and Pipelines.
Define and measure success metrics, monitoring Data Model and Pipeline performance.
Review technology policies and plans, providing guidance to Vendor Project Managers, delivery partners, and managed service providers.
Ensure consistent operational performance and business continuity.
Ensure successful completion of planned audits on technology controls.
Measure and maintain consistent vendor performance on services.
Support and engage leaders with change management activities.
Leverage relationships with delivery partners and managed services providers for mutual benefit.
Ensure Data & Analytics (D&A) receives high quality and consistent data for the commonwealth report.
Provide consultation and coaching to project teams.
Assist business leaders with effective technology capability and support.
Identify and initiate formal coaching opportunities.
Apply WAPHA Digital Services Strategy to embed change management disciplines.
Support the adoption of changes delivered by projects or business initiatives.
Embrace a continuous learning and experimentation approach to continuously adapt and improve processes and tools.
Ensure that every new solution implemented is reviewed and approved in line with WAPHA architecture.
About you To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following selection criteria: Essential experience and education Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (business, commerce, IT, security, etc.).
7+ years of experience in critical software systems.
Expertise in ITIL principles, agile methodologies, and tools like Atlassian.
Experience and knowledge of technology cyber protection tool suite – Veeam, Webroot, Barracuda Sentinel.
Proficiency in Microsoft Azure Services & solid understanding of SQL and modelling data Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Solid understanding of SQL and data modelling.
Hands-on experience with ELT/ETL best practices.
Ability to influence and build strong relationships.
Analytical and critical thinking capability.
