About the role Join us on a 6-month contract as a Data Engineer.
The Data Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of the TMB Enterprise Data Warehouse and Analytics Solutions.
This role includes collaborating with Business Analysts to create technical specifications and participating in all phases of data development and analytics projects, such as requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
The Data Engineer will suggest improvements for optimal BI solutions and stay informed about business operations and BI processes.
They will also establish and evaluate data integration patterns for incorporating new data sources into the enterprise data warehouse.
Additionally, the Data Engineer will conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions for junior developers.
Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and support data warehouse and analytics solutions.
Collaborate with business analysts to develop technical specifications.
Participate in all phases of data development and analytics projects.
Recommend improvements for optimal BI solutions.
Establish and evaluate data integration patterns.
Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions.
Develop and troubleshoot ETL processes using SSIS or equivalent tools.
Model new data assets in the enterprise data warehouse.
Develop SQL Server stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
Design and develop dashboard reports using PowerBI.
Troubleshoot and improve underperforming ETL/SQL processes.
Manage nightly job data processing and troubleshoot production issues.
Participate in agile meetings and discovery workshops.
Educate and advise internal clients on leveraging available data.
Prepare documentation for technical staff, business line staff, and third-party support personnel.
About You The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: Tertiary qualification in computer science or information technology (highly regarded).
Minimum 5+ years of experience in BI/DW development.
Certification in SQL Server and DataStage (desirable).
Minimum 5+ years in ETL development using SSIS or DataStage.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in developing and supporting large enterprise data warehouses.
Experience with relational and dimensional data modelling and analysis.
Experience with QlikView (highly regarded).
Background in banking/financial services (highly desirable).
Ability to take ownership of work and deliver successfully.
Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work collaboratively.
