Due to continued growth we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic team.
About the Role The Data Engineer will collaborate with a key partner to build a new, cutting-edge data landscape leveraging Snowflake, enhancing our existing data warehouses and introducing new business capabilities. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance data pipelines and solutions within the AWS cloud environment.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Owning and maintaining the data pipelines utilised within Onyx Gaming's Data and Analytics platform.Ensuring data is delivered through to consumption in a timely manner, as the tooling and data solutioning evolves over time.Identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies in the data pipeline and data model, and being proactive to implement them.Identifying opportunities to improve OLTP systems, data infrastructure, and being proactive to implement them.Understanding the cost implications of the data solution and remedying excessive costs.Building and maintaining the Data Quality framework, ensuring consumption data is a true and reliable reflection of source data.Providing input into best practise Data Governance that these datasets and pipelines will adhere to.Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure deployed pipelines are fit for purpose, satisfying the relevant business requirements.Advising on and establishing best practise data engineering principles within the business.Working as an advisor to the engineering team on data best practices.About You The ideal candidate will have at least three years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, with strong familiarity and hands-on experience in AWS cloud environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data accessibility, security, and optimisation for analytics, ultimately driving meaningful insights and supporting impactful business outcomes. A collaborative and inclusive approach to teamwork, fostering an environment of mutual respect and open communication is a must.
Skills & Qualifications Preferred Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or a related field.Proven minimum 3 years experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.Cloud exposure, ideally having experience in AWS, particularly with running data pipelines.Modern data pipeline experience required on a modern technology stack, with preference to Snowflake, dbt, and Dagster experience.Python and other programming experience required, web scraping solutioning highly desirable.CI/CD processes, particularly around git and release management.Knowledge of surfacing data in Tableau highly desirable, as is other dashboarding experience.Experience using GenAI coding assistants for documenting, refactoring and writing code.Firm understanding of agile principles and tooling.What We Offer: Competitive salary and benefits package.Professional development opportunities through our L&D program and career growth.A collaborative and supportive work environment.Opportunity to work with a passionate and talented team.Barista coffee machine, quarterly celebrations and regular team events.The successful applicant will be required to obtain a VGCCC Gaming License and/or OLGR License.
