As the Data Engineer in Propel Health AI, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality data integration pipelines that meet the needs of our healthcare industry clients. You will draw upon your expertise as a software engineer to build robust, observable and scalable applications and deploy them to cloud infrastructure. You will leverage your skills to solve complex, varied and exciting technical challenges. You will build data processing and harmonization pipelines and design distributed systems.
Your work will encompass the entire software development lifecycle, from participating in technical design and documentation to development, testing, and deployment. As a key member of our product team, you will collaborate closely with our product owner, business analysts, project managers and other engineers to build intuitive and impactful features in our platform. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing data processing pipelines that integrates into third-party healthcare data systems (e.g, Electronic Health Records) and harmonize these multimodal patient records into Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) as a part of data onboarding into our Propel Health AI platform.

Data licensing and partnership with research and life sciences companiesAdvanced analytic and business intelligenceClinical research and quality improvement initiativeClinical trials recruitmentBuilding and deploying clinical and operational decision support systemsDuties & ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and manage high performing data pipelines to ingest both structured and unstructured data into Propel Health AI's data warehouse.Deploy the solutions to GCP infrastructure; this will include writing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).Take ownership of backend services from inception to release; this includes gathering technical requirements, solution design & architecture, implementation & automated testing of Python applications.Define and implement robust, scalable and observable online services.Develop tools for seamless, high-frequency exchange and processing of critical healthcare information.Lead the way in innovation by recognising and executing internal process enhancements, including revamping infrastructure components.Collaborate in shaping the technical direction within your domain, working hand-in-hand with your team and senior peers across departments.Expected Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a software engineer or data engineer within product engineering organizations.Experience designing and building data integrations and APIs with Python. Bonus for familiarity with FHIR and HL7.Experience with ETL pipelines and data warehouses using BigQuery.Experience with database schema design, and automated testing.Experience delivering cloud-based solutions on Google Cloud Platform.Solid algorithm development skills, good understanding of data structures and OOP.System design skills: design robust, reliable and highly available online services.CI/CD development experience, in particular familiarity with Github Actions and serverless code deployment.Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to team members and clients.Desirable Skills & ExperienceExperience in leveraging large language models (e.g Gemini) for unstructured data extraction and transformation.Google Cloud Platform certifications, and familiarity with IaC tools such as Terraform.Experience in crafting automated data engineering solutions in a cloud environment, and a grasp of the underlying infrastructure and deployment processes.Experience with designing and implementing solutions on GCP for both batch and event-driven processing (AWS or Azure equivalent acceptable).Strong knowledge of SQL and No-SQL databases.Experience with data warehouses, data lake ETL pipeline tools and using BigQuery.Eager to become an expert in FHIR, encompassing its core concepts like interoperability, FHIR (JSON) Rest API, Resources, and Profiles.
