About The Role: Are you ready to take your career in data to the next level?
Compare the Market is seeking a skilled and innovative Data Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you'll be instrumental in shaping our data platform, working closely with both business and technology stakeholders across CTM to drive data-driven decision-making.
As a Data Engineer, you'll build and optimise data pipelines, enhance frameworks, and develop utilities on the Cloud Data Platform, all in alignment with metadata-driven, automation-based frameworks and scalable systems.
This is a unique opportunity to leverage your technical expertise while contributing to our ambitious growth and data strategy.
What You'll Do: Build data engineering solutions that align with data architecture and component designs.
Develop robust end-to-end data pipelines, ensuring reliability and scalability.
Write, test, and deploy code to a high standard, maintaining best practices throughout.
Plan releases, implement changes, and conduct thorough code reviews.
Proactively manage delivery risks and meet deadlines.
Collaborate with the Data Architect to support data architecture, governance, quality, master data, and metadata management.
Partner with BI developers and the reporting team to optimise the data warehouse for reporting and analysis.
Monitor data quality and create jobs to log and report on issues, ensuring data integrity.
Develop seamless data integrations between production systems.
Build a deep understanding of Compare the Market's business and data domains.
What You'll Bring: Tertiary Qualifications in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based EDWs (AWS and/or GCP), Data Lakes, and Information Governance Suites, including Lineage, Glossary, and Reference Data.
Strong development skills in Python and ETL tools, coupled with expertise in data modelling.
Proficiency in deploying data workloads using CI/CD tools.
Experience in building metadata-driven, highly automated solutions is highly valued.
Familiarity with Databricks and experience with traditional on-premises EDW/ETL environments are advantageous.
A minimum of 3 years in a similar data engineering role and at least 5 years in IT/data.
In-depth understanding of the end-to-end Data & Insights lifecycle.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders.
Experience working within an Agile environment, with proficiency in tools like Jira and Confluence.
