Data Collection Coordinator

Exciting New Role- Temporary, Full-time, Brisbane CBD | To implement and supervise procedures and systems for the collection and processing of health and health related data to satisfy statutory and non-statutory requirements
The role
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing data collections while also assisting in the development and implementation of new systems to meet the needs of Queensland Health. Your duties will include formulating and controlling work programs, prioritizing tasks, and assigning staff and other resources accordingly. You will examine and evaluate data sources and methods for their methodological soundness to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the information held and disseminated. Additionally, you will undertake special projects, particularly in the area of quality control, and develop procedures to identify and rectify discrepancies in information to maintain high-quality databases. 
You will also negotiate and liaise with suppliers, users, government authorities, and professional bodies regarding statistical requirements, data collections, and the availability of statistical data to and from the Department of Health. Providing technical leadership, direction, and motivation to staff, you will ensure their continuing professional development. Your responsibilities will include the timely dissemination of information related to data items, collection, coding, and other processing details to all data providers. You will manage and direct the work of staff, including Data Collection Liaison Officers and Data Collection Officers, and oversee their performance appraisals and development. Ensuring compliance with ethical decision-making, service quality standards, and occupational health and safety policies, you will contribute to delivering high-quality, safe services and workplaces.
The successful person
To excel in this role, you should have proven expertise in collecting, processing, storing, compiling, and disseminating statistical data. You should also have proficiency in various computer environments and software packages, particularly those used for data collection, management, and dissemination.
Additionally, you should demonstrate the ability to supervise, manage, and motivate staff, as well as develop clerical staff at all levels. Effective communication, consultation, and negotiation skills with senior officers within the organization and representatives of professional bodies and other external organizations are also essential. While not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be highly regarded.
