The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations.This position involves hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful.In addition to hardware and network repair candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7 and on a rotating shift schedule.AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.Key job responsibilitiesRegularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ poundsAbility to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as neededSome regional travel may be requiredBASIC QUALIFICATIONSHigh school or equivalent diploma2+ years of experience with server hardware1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systemsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSA Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience in an IT related field.Understanding of file systems and Operating systems such as Linux, Windows, MAC.Understanding of scripting languages.Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.Good understanding of Linux or similar Operating Systems.Good understanding of network design, protocols and troubleshooting.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
