Contract : Until June 2025 with 2x12 month extensions.

About the opportunity: Join a Federal government department seeking an experienced and highly skilled Data Analyst to join a team accountable for the design, development and ongoing sustainment of core integrated data assets that are used to support downstream business needs.
You will apply data quality techniques to cleanse data and provide feedback for ETL / data quality solutions.
Duties : • Produce analytical work that is customer focused.
• Discover trends, patterns and stories told by the data, structured and unstructured, and present them to stakeholders.
• Leverage new open data sources and extract further value from existing data.
• Produce creative data visualizations and intuitive graphics to presenting complex analytics.
• Perform data discovery with primary and secondary sources.
• Clean and prune data to discard irrelevant information.
• Identify new opportunities for process improvement.
• Provide concise data reports for management.
• Triage code problems and data-related issues.
Produce the following deliverables: • System Design Specifications.
• Detailed business requirement documents.
• Mapping documents that provide detailed cohort rules and individual field mappings.
You will have demonstrated the following experience: • 5 years working as a Data Analyst.
• Proven ability to clean and prune data to discard irrelevant information.
• Proven ability to deal with both business representatives (to negotiate detailed business requirements) and technical personnel (to negotiate detailed technical logic).
• Ability to work independently to perform data discovery / data mapping work.
• Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of the inputs, processing rules and outputs of existing systems.
Desirable : • Ability to triage code problems and data-related issues as well as identifying new opportunities for process improvement.
• Detailed knowledge of business systems in the department, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
• Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as computer science, information technology, mathematics, statistics or economics.
