Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.
About the role The Financial Controller is a key role in the finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller is responsible for managing the financial and accounting operations of Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) and developing and overseeing the whole financial management system.
Responsibilities: Oversee accounting operations. Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting, inventory accounting, payroll, fixed assets, and revenue recognition. Identify accounting and financial issues and suggest timely solutions. Manage month-end and year-end close process. Manage quality control over financial transactions and reporting. Preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and annual reports. Monitoring internal controls. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting. To be successful you will need: Extensive experience in financial accounting in a similar position. Bachelor's degree or master's qualifications in finance or accounting, with professional qualifications as a CPA or CA preferred. Outstanding knowledge of accounting principles and relevant standards. Demonstrated experience with creating financial statements and general ledgers. Ability to motivate and lead a team. High level organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. High level of problem-solving and time-management skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a productive team member within a multidisciplinary team in a cross-cultural and complex environment. High level experience using Technology One or similar financial accounting software and Microsoft applications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history. Experience in working in an Aboriginal Community controlled Health Service or similar complex environment. What we offer: 6 weeks annual leave per annum 5 days paid leave during end of year shutdown period (on top of annual leave). Salary packaging of up to $15,990 per annum. Employment with DDHS is subject to a police check, a current NT working with children's card, CPR certificate, and full vaccination against COVID-19, or an exemption as listed on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
