Curator Museum And Gallery

Details of the offer

The Burnie City Council has embarked upon a ground-breaking process to reimagine the delivery of its arts and cultural services. This will be achieved through the creation of a redesigned single site arts centre incorporating gallery, museum and performing arts activities, creating a new community hub for the people of Burnie.
To assist in bringing this vision to life, we are looking for a passionate and contemporary individual to lead the curation of Council's existing cultural collection and to contribute to the creation of a cultural experience for current and future generations.
About You You will have the ability to inspire creativity, lead projects from concept to completion, and have a deep passion for community engagement and the aptitude to share visually engaging and innovative projects through careful planning and execution.
You will have proven experience in leading and managing multiple tasks simultaneously and be able to use your problem-solving skills when necessary to develop creative solutions to creative problems when they arise. Your attention to detail, ability to research and interpret content and then transform this into an informative and engaging experience for audiences from all walks of life will be key.
You will work collaboratively across a wide range of stakeholder groups, your communication skills will be exceptional, and you will share your technical expertise, knowledge and experiences to cultivate an invigorated and vibrant cultural precinct for the Burnie community.
About Us This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Curator. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Council's Manager, Burnie Arts, an expert in the field, having worked on big musicals and for contemporary dance companies, before moving into the world of galleries and museums and big regional arts development projects.
This is not your typical curatorial role however. Our desired aspirations for the reimagined precinct are predicted on a co-design and delivery model. The Curator role will be pivotal in realising this vision by working collaboratively with the Burnie community, to deliver exhibits that tell the story of our history and celebrate our heritage and values.
If you are passionate about community engagement, the arts and collection innovations, we'd love to hear from you. If you're looking for a role which provides lots of room for personal and professional growth and will allow you to make a big difference to the community, organisation and our people, we'd love to hear from you.
Applicants are asked to submit:
Cover letter, providing a brief introduction and an outline of your interest and motivation in applying for the position; A 2-3 page statement summarising the 'To Be Successful' selection criteria as it relates to you; and Curriculum Vitae outlining relevant work experience and qualifications. Applications are to be emailed to ******
