About the role The Office of the Principal Practitioner leads specialist and therapeutic practice, promoting culturally informed best practices across VACCA and offering case-specific guidance. This dynamic role focuses on enhancing service delivery, particularly by leading the implementation of VACCA's Cultural Therapeutic Ways (CTW) Practice Framework. The role requires a collaborative leader to guide best practices and support organisation-wide implementation.
About You Strong commitment to VACCA's values and vision, with a deep awareness of Aboriginal cultures, societies, and the issues affecting Aboriginal people today. Extensive experience in the Child and Family sector, particularly with Aboriginal children and families, and a solid understanding of trauma-informed, culturally therapeutic practice, and Self-Determination. Skilled in adapting mainstream models to an ACCO context, managing projects within deadlines and budgets, and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Strong focus on holistic approaches in secondary consultation and maintaining culturally therapeutic care in high-risk cases.
Requirements: A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent qualifications (or willing to obtain) and extensive relevant experience OR a combination of experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties required. You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver's Licence, Police Check and current employment working with children check card.
