The role This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977). The Project Support Officer Aboriginal Land Strategy plays a crucial role in supporting various projects related to land dealings and Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs). Key responsibilities of the role include research, analysis, reporting, and other administrative duties to ensure projects are delivered effectively and in compliance with relevant legislation.
In this role, you may be challenged with managing multiple project support activities in a high-pressure, politically sensitive environment, and developing strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met. This role also requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the Native Title Act 1993 and the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 to ensure all processes are compliant and culturally appropriate.
What you will bring to the role Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with team members. Strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently. Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Analytical skills to conduct thorough research and analysis to support project development and implementation. Cultural competency to understand and respect cultural practices, ensuring projects are culturally appropriate. What is an essential requirement: This is an Identified role under the Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.
