This position assists the Director of Public Prosecutions in the conduct and management of the business of the Criminal Division by acting as a litigious solicitor and counsel, especially in relation to Appeals and Summary Prosecutions.

Hours per fortnight 73.50 hours per fortnight- flexible options available.
Duties To prosecute as Solicitor and Counsel routine, complex and critical matters, in particular in relation to the prosecution on behalf of regulatory bodies with particular attention to prosecuting under the Living Marine Resources Management Act I995 , Work Health and Safety Act 2012 , Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 and the Animal Welfare Act 1993 as well as the State of Tasmania, its instrumentalities and Agencies before the Full Court, Supreme Court, Magistrates Court and Tribunals, as may be allocated by the DPP Provide professional legal guidance and instruction to junior legal practitioners, including allocating and supervising professional legal work, as required. Provide professional supervision to Summary Prosecution Legal Practitioners, including focussing on their on-going development of knowledge, competence and professional judgement and adherence to ethical practices and standards. To participate in performance management and file reviews as directed by the Assistant Director (Summary Prosecutions). Undertake administrative tasks within the area of responsibility including setting priorities, allocating cases, case and file reviews and performance management. Contribute to the development of service priorities, standards and guidelines for the work undertaken by the Summary Prosecution Legal Group. Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania. Drivers Licence. •Crimes against Executive or the Legislative Power
•Crimes involving Conspiracy
