Job Description Credit Risk Policy Manager, Mortgages - 52337 Opportunity to join Westpac's First Line Mortgages Credit Risk teamPermanent opportunitySydney basedHow will I help? The Manager Mortgages Credit Risk will support the Executive Manager and Service Owner of the 1st line Mortgages Credit Risk squad with a direct focus on the optimisation of mortgage credit policy and management of policy change initiatives. As a Manager, you will be asked to drive certain initiatives with autonomy as well as coach and guide others within the team whilst role modelling our values and behaviours.
The role will work collaboratively with the 2nd line Credit Risk team, Mortgages Product village and the broader Mortgages business teams and stakeholders to ensure effective credit risk portfolio management and appetite is maintained. Additionally, the role will help lead the establishment and strengthening of "best practice" approaches to credit risk management, processes, engagement, change and execution and support our customer focused strategy.
Some of the key accountabilities are: Impact assessment: reviewing and assessing policy change initiatives, determining the materiality, outcomes and objectives of proposed policy changesCritical analysis: identify, evaluate and interrogate relevant credit risk data and analytics to support a sound basis for policy changesCommunication: clearly summarise and articulate recommendations for key decision makers, and distil complex issues into simple and actionable languageStakeholder management: provide expert advice and support to legal, compliance and business stakeholders, and drive proactive engagement with 2nd line Credit Risk teamChange execution: support the development of clear credit system requirements (where applicable) and compile concise and accurate requests for policy changesWhat do I need? Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or Banking and FinanceExperience working directly in or supporting a mortgage business (essential)Experience in credit risk management including policy, process, systems and controlsAdvanced knowledge of the mortgage and credit regulatory and compliance environmentDemonstrated strong communication skills (both verbal and written)Demonstrated ability to build and strengthen relationships with a variety of stakeholdersHow do I apply?
