About your role The Credit Assessor accurately and efficiently assesses and approves Personal, Credit Card, Overdraft and Mortgage loan applications within their Delegated Lending Authority (DLA). They screen and assess loans outside of their DLA and escalate suitable recommendations for approval, whilst administering the portfolio to ensure balance between risk and reward.
Key responsibilities include: Timely and accurate assessment of new mortgage loan and top up mortgage applicationsAssess/recommend Business/Commercial loan applications in an accurate and timely mannerAssess Personal loan, Credit Card/Overdraft applications in an accurate and timely mannerRework loan applications as required within agreed timeframesProcess loans as required including ordering valuations and securities as well as preparing mortgage loan contracts, instructing solicitors and disbursing fundsPrepare submissions to relevant Manager for applications above Delegated Lending AuthorityAssist in other team tasks e.g. prepare and obtain necessary approvals of discharges, produce documents for registration with relevant authorities i.e. production of title deeds for Land Titles Office, review and action credit exception and other reporting, general administration/filing to ensure that Credit Union standards and Departmental efficiencies are maintainedLiaise with solicitors when clarification of regulatory or Credit Union's security position over property being offered is requiredActively participate in risk and compliance management as requiredAbout you To be successful in this role, you'll need to demonstrate experience in assessing a variety of loan applications.
Capabilities Previously held Delegated Lending Authority (DLA)Up to date knowledge of the current regulatory environment and an understanding of associated legislation (e.g. FSRA, National Privacy Principles, Privacy Act, Consumer Credit Code, Credit Reporting Principles etc.)Demonstrated experience showing initiative and taking a proactive approach to all tasksHigh attention to detail, thoroughness and follow up skillsAnalytic thinking and problem solving skillsStrong Planning & organisational skills with the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.Essential experience & Qualifications 2 years previous experience working in a similar role (lending and /or assessing experience)Certificate III in Financial Services (or equivalent)Certificate IV in Credit ManagementAbout us Illawarra Credit Union has a high-performance culture that is underpinned by our values.
