THE ROLE Child Protection Specialist – Aboriginal Children in Aboriginal Care and Aboriginal Initiatives is a senior child protection position managed by the Child Protection – North Division and will work with children in the Loddon Area. The position works alongside Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to expand the Aboriginal Children in Aboriginal Care program. The role will support the implementation of key Aboriginal initiatives and diversionary projects to support improved outcomes for Aboriginal children who are subject to, or at risk of, Child Protection involvement.
You will possess an understanding of Aboriginal culture and demonstrate an understanding of the legislative, policy and practice requirements relating to Aboriginal children, families, and communities, including the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle and the programs and initiatives that support its implementation in child protection practice.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Critical Assessment and Reflection: Engaging in risk assessment and analysis as well as case management, reporting and engaging in reflective practice.Engaging Others: Engaging with children, their families and support networks. Collaborating with other practitioners and services and sharing knowledge.Delivering Results: Problem solving, making informed practice decisions, delivering improvements, and managing budgets to achieve best outcomes.COVID-19 VACCINATION
