COURT SECURITY MANAGERAbout the role As part of our ongoing contract with the Department of Justice, Ventia has a rare opportunity for a qualified and experienced Court Security Manager to join the Kununurra Courthouse team in WA. This role is offered as a full-time permanent opportunity; however, because of the operational nature of courts, some flexibility around working hours is required at times.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, this role will see you as a critical member of the management team, where you will provide vital support in the delivery of effective and efficient court operations and support the development of your team.
In addition, you will ensure the correct deployment of staff across the region and be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the Deputy Court Security Manager and Court & Custody Officers who fall under your management.
Your duties will include but are not limited to: Liaising with Court Officials to ensure contractual requirements are metEnsuring suitable and sufficient resources are available in the Court and Custody areasInspecting and monitoring court operations to ensure complianceDelivering a high standard of service delivery whilst constantly maintaining staff and PiC (Persons in custody) welfare, safety & securityEnsuring all warrants are checked in line with documented proceduresInspecting and checking Court premises to ensure the effectiveness and tidiness of security systemsMaintaining emergency procedures and ensuring that staff are aware of their responsibilitiesMonitoring the submission of incident reports within the required timeframesSetting clear direction and objectives for direct reportsRepresenting Ventia at Court User Group MeetingsPositively contributing to a diverse, inclusive, and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying, and harassmentSkills and experience: Certificate III in Corrective Practice or related fieldControl and Restraint qualifiedSenior First Aid & CPR or equivalentDemonstrated ability to read and interpret correspondence, legislation, and regulationsHigh level of computer skills and report writingProven experience in a leadership roleA collaborative management style and the ability to forge highly productive internal and external working relationshipsDemonstrated experience in an escort custody operational environmentHigh focus on safety and security awarenessPersonable and professional, with a strong capability to remain objective, unbiased, and balanced in challenging environmentsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare briefs, letters, emails, and reports using clear, concise, and correct languageMandatory Requirements: An Australian Permanent Resident or CitizenAbility to obtain and maintain an Australian Federal Police Check, Criminal History Check & Working with Children CheckAbility to complete 6 weeks of full-time training in Perth prior to starting in Kununurra (flights & accommodation provided)Undergo a pre-employment medical including a drug & alcohol testManual Driving Licence - Desirable (HR, MR licence or F Extension category highly desirable for operating vehicles carrying passengers)Willingness to travel (road and air)Ability to maintain a reasonable level of fitness to undertake the inherent requirements of the roleWhat we offer: $107,431 Total fixed remuneration (Base Salary + Super)$10,189 extra per annum Regional AllowancePaid accommodation for 2 yearsAbout Ventia Ventia is a leading infrastructure services company, operating across Australia and New Zealand.
