Court Liaison Officer, Child Safety, Seniors and DisabilitiesChild Safety, Seniors and Disabilities – Mackay QLDWe are seeking two permanent, flexible part-time (0.5 FTE) Court Liaison Officers (CLO) to work with the relevant Child Safety Service Centres and Youth Justice Service Centres, and other stakeholders to facilitate case work and planning for these dual clients in responding to matters under the Youth Justice Act 1992.One part-time position will be based in Mackay and the other based in Rockhampton. Both positions will report to a Senior Court Liaison Officer, Court Services. Some intrastate travel will be required.Key Duties and Responsibilities are:Collect and collate relevant child protection information, attend Court, and provide authoritative advice as to the scope of child safety intervention and the available services to support the young person appearing in matters under the Youth Justice Act 1992.Act as the primary contact in the collaboration and sharing of child protection information about a young person with a range of internal and external stakeholders relating to the youth justice system including Courts, legal representatives, police, and community organisations.Participate in a rostered service delivery for Saturday and public holiday court appearances.Support young people before, during and after Court events to promote understanding of Court processes and requirements upon the young person, child safety staff, carers and other stakeholders.Maintain detailed case records in a timely way and ensure high quality data systems that enable appropriate court tracking and identify trends and issues.Participate in case specific stakeholder meetings and/or provide direct casework services as negotiated with the young person's child safety officer (including interstate child protection authorities).Role specific/technical skills:You demonstrate an awareness of the historical and contemporary impacts of philosophies, policies and practice upon child protection in Queensland with a particular understanding of impacts for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.You have experience working with young people and are able to provide an integrated response to clients subject to child safety and youth justice intervention and their families. You have the technical ability to negotiate, advocate, provide advice, and to interact with clients and stakeholders in a court setting and work collaboratively to build capacity to provide coordinated services to young people subject to Child Safety and Youth Justice intervention.This position is aligned to the Individual Contributor profile of the Queensland Public Service Leadership competencies for Queensland.
