Golf Course Superintendent – Manly GC, Sydney, NSW.  Founded in 1903 Manly Golf Club is one of Sydney's original foundation clubs located just a few blocks from Manly's iconic beaches. 
In its more than 120 years' existence, Manly's 18 hole layout has undergone a number of physical changes, none more significant than the total course redevelopment, completed 2012, with a masterplan prepared by golf course architects, Thomson Perrett.
Upon completion of the redevelopment and 'grow-in' phase the Club has gone from strength to strength with membership now with waiting period to entry. 
The Club offers a great opportunity for a dynamic turfgrass professional to take on this important role and be an integral part of our senior management team reporting directly to the General Manager.
Applicants require experience in all aspects of turf management and enjoy driving change to maximise the potential of their staff and the course. Strong leadership and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate openly and honestly with members, staff, management and Club Committee. 
An attractive salary based remuneration package is on offer for the successful candidate. 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Course Superintendent will set the annual works program for the day to day operations of the golf course, vegetation areas, wetlands, waterways and surrounding grounds offering ideas for improvements to conditioning or maintenance practices on a regular basis for discussion.
• Ensure that all staff under their supervision are performing all assigned tasks in accordance with their job description and in line with SOP's and control measures.
• Develop and propose both short and long term agronomic maintenance programmes and development strategies that achieve the quality and cost objectives of the Club. 
• Maintenance and management of the surrounding grounds includes the main practice putting green, practice fairway, bowling green and spare hole to acceptable and agreed standards all year round.
• Year on year improvement of the golf course and practice facilities
• Interviews, recommends for hire, trains and supervises a staff of employees within an agreed annual budget for the purpose of maintaining the property.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL IDEALLY POSSESS: Formal qualifications in Turf Management, Irrigation or equivalent and/or extensive relative experience.
• Extensive experience in the planning and maintenance of a high quality golf course.
• Demonstrated knowledge of turf maintenance and the management of commercial irrigation systems.
• Proven organisational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage financial and physical resources, resolve problems, meet deadlines, organise activities and achieve results.
• Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with staff, industry stakeholders and relevant associations.
• Demonstrated commitment to high quality and timely service delivery, in accordance with identified member or stakeholder needs.
• Demonstrated commitment and understanding of contemporary land management issues as they relate to golf courses.
• A high degree of administrative and executive ability.Demonstrated experience in presenting high quality bentgrass putting surfaces, couch playing surfaces and adapting to climatic conditions relevant to the courses location.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, site visits (including other golf courses) and trade shows. Type: Full time, Permanent
