The Counsellor forms part of the SEWB Multi-Disciplinary team and works collaboratively with the team and other program areas.To be successful, you should have the following:ESSENTIAL:Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology and/or appropriate professional registration in Western Australia;Mental Health Accreditation and Registration is required (or the ability to acquire this within 3 months of commencement) with the Australian Counselling Association;Knowledge and experience in working with people with social and emotional conditions;Demonstrated assessment, case management and treatment skills;A thorough knowledge of and experience in relevant practices;High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relate well to staff and to liaise effectively with key stakeholders;Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal Health;Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and a high level of accuracy;Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively determine priorities to ensure deadlines are met;Ability to work effectively as a member of a team in an environment of competing priorities;Current Police Clearance (within 3 months) and Working With Children Check;Ability to travel and stay overnight as required.DESIRABLE:Membership with the Australian Counselling Association or equivalent;Proficient computer knowledge and skills.
