The Karlup Service will provide a range of offerings from the Ruah Centre for Women and Children (RCWC), a state-of-the-art purpose-built facility in Perth's CBD.The Karlup Service Children's Counselling Offering recognises that the health and wellbeing of children and young people who have experienced family and domestic violence (FDV), either directly or as witnesses to the abuse of their mother or caregiver, is significantly impacted. Children and young people growing up in homes where there is FDV are more vulnerable to other forms of abuse such as neglect, sexual abuse, and physical abuse. They are also more likely to be perpetrators or victims of FDV in adulthood.As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Counsellor (Children) will create safety for the child or young person by building trust and providing a safe place to explore their experiences and express their emotions. The Counsellor (Children) will support children and young people to address behaviours and beliefs that may indicate they are vulnerable to becoming victims or perpetrators of family and domestic violence in the future.We are seeking someone to fulfill this role on a part-time 0.6 FTE basis.What we're looking forThe successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:Degree level qualification in psychology, counselling, social work (or related discipline).Registration with at least one of the following professional associations:Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)Australia Psychological Society (APS)Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)The Australian Counselling Association (ACA)Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Significant experience working in a counselling capacity with children and young people and applying child -centred therapies.Experience working with children/young people and women who have experienced family and domestic violence and a sound understanding of its socio-environmental context.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diversity and social inclusion- including gender, sexuality, disability, cultural, age, and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture.What do we offer?An opportunity to work with a passionate and highly skilled team within in a unique service and state-of-the-art facility.A rare chance to work within a unique service model that truly makes a difference to the lives of vulnerable women and children.A salary aligned with Level 5 of the Ruah Enterprise Agreement (and the SCHADS Award), starting at $97,689 (based on a full-time salary or pro rata if applicable).5 weeks annual leave16 weeks paid parental leave, with flex to take at 32 weeks half-pay (uniquely, new staff can access 4 weeks paid parental leave after just 6 months' service).Incredibly valuable Salary Packaging with:up to $15,900 core packagingplus additional $2,650 in entertainment packaging benefits for travel, accommodation, meals, entertainment, parking and more!options to use an Everyday Purchase card to make things simple.An extensive learning and development program.Opportunities to be active in the Ruah Community such as participating in a wide range of working groups, joining us at Pride events, being a part of a range of cultural events to promote and support reconciliation and much, much more!Required compliance documents:Current drivers' licenseNational Police Clearance CertificateWorking with Children CheckFirst Aid CertificateReady to make a meaningful change?We'd love to hear from you!
