What you'll doAs a Counsellor & Caseworker at Wattle Place, you will provide high quality counselling and therapeutic case work to individuals who have experienced complex childhood trauma, including Forgotten Australians, Former Child Migrants, and people accessing the National Redress Scheme. Your role will focus on offering trauma-informed counselling and practical assistance to help clients navigate their unique challenges. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing Counselling and Support: Use structured therapeutic techniques to guide clients through their healing process, helping them make meaningful changes. Sessions will be conducted in-person, online, or over the phone, following organisational guidelines.Document Preparation and Casework: Assist clients with important documentation, including applications for the National Redress Scheme, file releases, and family tracing. You'll also support family reunions and manage sensitive information with care.Building Trust: Establish a secure and respectful environment for clients, ensuring they feel safe to engage throughout their counselling journey.Comprehensive Case Management: Manage the client process from initial referral to case closure, balancing both the clinical and administrative responsibilities outlined in each case plan.Connecting Clients to Support: Facilitate social connection and practical support, partnering with other services to ensure clients receive the assistance they need.The detailsFull time contract until 30.06.2026 with potential for extensionBased in Harris Park$46 - $51 per hour (depending on skills and experience) + 11.5% super, 17.5% leave loading and tax-free salary packaging up to $15,900.Extra annual leave days between Christmas and New YearExcellent professional development, regular clinical supervisionWhat you'll bringTertiary qualifications in Social Science, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or equivalent, with an understanding of the systemic approachBe registered or eligible for membership with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation Australia as a clinical member or Australian Counselling Association (Level 3 or 4) or Australian Association of Social WorkersThe use of structured evidence-informed counselling modalities to respond to the challenges facing our clientsAbility to provide quality casework to develop individual tailored case plans and coordinate referral to suit client needUnderstanding of history of Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants in Australia and of the issues/ barriers faced by people impacted, including the long-term impactWhy work with us?Make a genuine difference to the wellbeing of individuals; everyday!Work alongside people who truly care about what you achieve.
