What's the role? Reporting to the General Counsel, News Corp Australia (NCA), this role advises the business on all commercial and corporate legal matters, particularly concerning privacy, marketing, data and procurement.
It is not an editorial legal role.
You will : Provide relevant, strategic and actionable legal support and advice as part of a small, agile, very high performing teamApply an internal overlay to external advice received to ensure it is applicable to the business imperatives that NCA facesAssist the General Counsel as required to ensure that the Legal Team operates efficiently and with strategic impact including (but not limited to) in relation to the following: External privacy requests/complaints and business advice on privacy and data issuesMarketing/consumer team content reviewsProcurement related adviceContract reviews and draftingDevelopment of precedents and internal training materialsCollaborate with others in the Legal Team and assist with cross-over of work and overflow as necessaryWho are you? Qualified to practice as a solicitor in an Australian jurisdiction holding (or entitled to hold) a current practising certificate3-6 years post qualification experience, ideally made up of private practice and in-house experienceHighly skilled in legal drafting, reasoning and analysis, written and verbal communication, and negotiationAble to identify legal risks/issues and offer practical commercially appropriate solutionsStrong commercial and business acumenWhat's next?
