Operating primarily from stores throughout Australia and New Zealand, the Group comprises the retail businesses of JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys, and has recently acquired a large stake in E&S Trading.Reporting to the Head of Legal – Commercial and Services, the focus of the role is to work across two of the key growth areas of the Group, by providing legal support to the Group's Commercial divisions, as well as the Services division.
You will primarily advise on, draft, review and negotiate contractual arrangements; advise on the legal issues arising in the divisions including the management of claims, extended warranties, installation, trade-in and other adjacent services; and advise on compliance with relevant legislation, customer relationship issues, regulatory issues, promotional campaigns, and IP matters.
The successful candidate will also develop and deliver in-house legal training programs.The ideal candidate offers quality post qualification experience of 4 to 6 years in corporate/commercial law, preferably with some time spent in a major firm.
You are confident, able to develop relationships within the company, able to work on matters with limited supervision, and offer excellent communication skills.
Financial services experience and/or experience in advising on Australian Consumer Law issues is beneficial to the role but not essential.
The position requires an eye for technical detail but also the ability to provide legal advice in a commercial context.
