ABOUT THE ROLE The Events Officer will assist in the planning, development and evaluation of effective commercial and council events with a range of community event organisers and internal staff through advice, advocacy and strategic support on good event management practices and successful delivery of events within Moira region. Moira Shire Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Corporate and Commercial Events team. This part-time role (22.8 hours per week) offers flexibility, with shifts scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Key functions will include Assist the Corporate Events Coordinator in managing corporate events as required. Serve as the primary point of contact for external event organizers, including community, tourism, and commercial events within the Moira region and neighboring communities. Act as an Event Concierge, coordinating meetings, maintaining notes, and ensuring compliance with Council policies. Facilitate communication between external event organizers and relevant Council departments to obtain permits and approvals. Support the promotion of corporate and commercial events through various channels, including websites, social media, and digital advertising. Assist in promoting tourism for the Sun Country region. Coordinate the promotion of all events for the Sun Country region. Support the maintenance of social media and website content for the Sun Country region. Assist in scheduling and coordinating content for tourism-related campaigns. ABOUT YOU If you are ready to make a positive impact in our community and contribute to the success of corporate and commercial events, and you meet the following criteria: Previous experience in event management or related field preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms. Knowledge of event permit processes and regulations desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
