Where you fit inAs part of the Australia Economics team, the role provides high quality Economic analysis and decision insight to Shell's West Australian assets covering major project Investment decision making, Operational decisions, and Commercial positioning for LNG Sales and Purchase Agreements, Tolling Agreements, Asset Strategy and JV Economics alignment.With a dotted line to the Commercial Manager, this individual will also provide a portion of their time to perform Commercial Advisor work.The role integrates into the Economics team and Commercial community in Perth and interfaces with key Asset customers in various locations and businesses as required. The team enables quality business decisions, by serving as "guardians of value", decision analysts, and trusted advisors.What's the role?The Economist role is a key enabler in achieving Shell's commercial objectives, providing high quality economic advice and decision analysis in support of Shell's business opportunities. In such you will follow the decision quality model to deliver quality frames and economic evaluations, robust and fit-for-purpose risk and uncertainty analysis, and provide guidance and support for commercial investment decisions.Operational function:Activities will depend on asset and economics/commercial priorities at any point in time and include:Deliver cost effective, timely, professional economic products and insights for decision review boards, value assurance reviews at various decision gates, decision documents and business deliverables for projects of moderate to high complexity.Ensure consistency in economic analyses through effective integration and compliance with standards, guidelines, and processes to enable reliable comparison of opportunities.Challenge, steer and assess decisions involving various project decisions.Support the development of new, or amendments to commercial and project agreements.Provide commercial support for, coordination of and input on project, asset and regulator deliverables and assist with managing day to day governance.Build, hold and maintain relationships internally as well as externally.Functional:Stay integrated with economic activities, best practices and lessons distributed across the globally networked Australia Economic Community and partner with various data providers and key stakeholders.Support the economics discipline improvement efforts (decision analysis, standards and guidelines, tools, assurance, skills, knowledge management).Balance cost, speed, and quality of economic products.Align with stakeholders to meet short-term project needs while building long term functional health.What we need from youTo succeed in this role, you will have:Degree in Business, Commercial, Finance/Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Geosciences with direct experience in Integrated Gas Value Chains. Demonstrated experience in Asset, New Business Development, and Exploration screening and evaluations using DA/DQ techniques.Intermediate to advanced analytical skills, including moderate to advanced Excel proficiency.Strong commercial acumen and understanding of economic performance measures.Experience in JV environments and knowledge of JV agreements, including Joint Operating Agreements.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work individually or as part of a team, making sound judgments.Results-driven, comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, and delivering quality results on tight timelines.Willingness to dive into analytical details and summarize key insights for complex projects.Company DescriptionShell Australia is a leading natural gas producer, and we are playing our part in the transition to a low-carbon future by also investing in the power sector, renewable energy sources and carbon abatement activities.
