Public Relations & Corporate Affairs (Marketing & Communications) Full time Salary: $110k – $130k pa - Commensurate with experience
The WA Police Union of Workers (WAPU) is seeking a dynamic Corporate Communications Manager to spearhead their communications strategy. In this pivotal role, reporting directly to the CEO, you will drive member engagement, champion industrial campaigns and enhance WAPU's brand and public image. Leveraging your expertise in internal and external communications, media relations and digital content management, you'll shape their narrative and amplify their voice. About Us The WA Police Union of Workers (WAPU) represents the professional and industrial interests of nearly 7,000 police officers, police recruits, cadets and police auxiliary officers employed by the WA Police Force. Covering the portfolios of Legal, Industrial Relations, WHS, Welfare, Media, Internal Advocacy, Research, Administration and Member Services, WAPU plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the well-being of its constituents. WAPU is registered with the WA Industrial Relations Commission (WAIRC) and affiliated with the Police Federation of Australia (PFA).
About the Role Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies aligned with WAPU's objectives and goals. Lead media relations, including liaison, event management and media statement preparation. Plan and manage Union media campaigns to raise public and member awareness. Enhance and safeguard WAPU's brand and reputation. Foster corporate partnerships and assist with high-impact event coordination. Cultivate stakeholder relationships and maximise positive media coverage. Analyse and report on communication efforts and campaign effectiveness. Drive and oversee the communications strategy, managing the website, magazine and social media platforms. Lead and develop the communications team, fostering innovation and accountability. About You Hold a tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field. 5+ years of senior level experience in corporate communications or public relations, preferably in a union or advocacy setting. A proven media relations expert with crisis communication experience. Excel at developing and executing communication plans to support organisational campaigns. A strong leader with experience in guiding and developing teams. A strategic thinker who can translate complex issues into clear, compelling messages. Highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive in media engagement. Integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive information. Strong interpersonal skills and can build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Knowledge of the industrial relations environment is advantageous. Hold valid driver's licence.
