Job Description The role
The role of the Chief Engineer is a key on-board management position that works closely with the Master to ensure the safety of the vessel, the passengers and the crew on board.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Continued ongoing development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program; Engine maintenance and the cleanliness and general condition of the engine room; Maintenance of the pumps, hydraulic equipment, electrical equipment, lighting and bridge equipment; Bunkering of fuel and oil as required; Comply with oil pollution regulations and maintain the oil record book; Comply with all regulations, ISM, codes of conduct and standards; Maintain and upkeep ship manuals as required by AMSA; Stand watch unless emergency mechanical and electrical matters need attention; Presentations and Engine room tours for guests; Dining with guests on occasion. What you will bring to us Proven experience in a similar role; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Strong leadership and management skills with a desire to coach and develop others; Ability work well in a team environment; Demonstrated safe working practices mindset; Sound engineering systems and operational knowledge and the ability to problem solve.
