We are excited to partner with a local council in their search for a highly skilled Coordinator of Waste Operations. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-established Waste Operations unit, guiding a dedicated team of professionals committed to maintaining high-quality services across their community. This is a 1-month temporary contract position, with the potential for extension for the right candidate, offering an excellent chance to make an immediate impact.
You will oversee the daily operations, drive service standards, and foster a culture of safety and development within the Waste Operations unit. Our client is committed to creating a cleaner, safer environment for its community, and they need a strong leader to help them achieve their goals.
About the Role:
As the Coordinator of Waste Operations, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the Waste Operations unit, ensuring that services such as road and pavement sweeping, waste response, and graffiti removal are delivered to a high standard. You will lead by example, motivating your team to embody the organisation's core values and maintain high levels of service delivery, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Providing leadership and management to engage and motivate employees, ensuring alignment with organisational values.
Developing leadership skills within the unit, maximising the contribution of supervisors, team leaders, and employees.
Promoting a safety-centric culture, ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
Regularly monitoring and updating performance and development plans for all staff.
Coordinating and overseeing the delivery of key waste operations services, including road sweeping, shop cleaning, drainage maintenance, and more.
Maintaining a high standard of customer service and addressing any issues related to service delivery.
Ensuring services are delivered in accordance with safety, policy, and regulatory standards.

About You:
The successful candidate will have previous experience leading an operations team in a waste or council environment. To excel in this role, you'll need strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate your team.
